Back in 2016, my Dad asked if I was interested in helping start a new company with him and my uncle. My uncle, who lives in California, was interested in starting a powder coating business in Tennessee where my family lived at the time. Between myself, my Dad and a few other family members, we started Micron Powder Coating in April of 2018. The name and the logo were pre-determined by my uncle, based off of his current company Micron Machining. The rest, however, was up to us!
We needed signage, business cards, letterheads and even company-branded documentation. This was all in addition to building the physical properties of the company as well. It was a massive undertaking but; but a successful one at that!
Creating the marketing materials
Since we already had the logo, it was a little easier to get the process going. The first thing to create was business cards so that while the property was being built and the equipment was being assembled, we used that time to get the name out to the community.

We created a custom letterhead for invoices and other correspondence

Then we hired a local company to print shirts up for the employees

Finally, I designed the manuals to several of the machinery used in the production process. This included the large gas oven, the sandblasting unit, and more.

Creating a simple informative website
We decided to use WordPress for this site to simplify the usage and updates. I designed a quick and easy look and feel that got the message across quickly and efficiently.

The business was a great success and continued to operate for over four years. Eventually my sister took over and her and my dad decided to close the business, as he was way passed his retirement age!
